Description

 Atikokan is seeking 2.5 FTE rural family physicians interested in an office/clinic, emergency, in-patient and nursing home setting. We welcome full time and part time physicians.

Applicants must be currently licensed or eligible for licensing in the Province of Ontario.

Medical staff members are funded under the Rural and Northern Physician Group Agreement and receive emergency after hours funding through an alternate funding plan. Call Arrangements: On call from home shared daily. Funded $90/hr.

Additional Requirements: ACLS (advanced Cardio), ATLS (Advanced Trauma).

The community of Atikokan is eligible for incentives through the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Underserviced Area Program, the tuition reimbursement program, the OMA CME program, as well as local incentives through the Health Professionals Recruitment and Retention Committee. These include short and long term commitment incentives such as housing assistance, the offer of a locally made canoe, assistance with moving expenses and more.

The Northern Ontario Community Development Program, administered by the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) assists practitioners with their relocation choices and encourages learners to pursue health-related careers in Northern Ontario. Large or small, rural, remote or urban, all communities are eligible for this valuable service at no cost. Click here for More information.

Financial assistance is now available from the Province of Ontario. The new Relocation Expense Assistance Program (REAP) is open to physicians who have moved to Ontario to start full-time medical professional practice after March 31, 2008.

Designed to make your move easier, REAP will reimburse you for eligible moving expenses as well as certification and registration fees to a maximum of $9,500.
