Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the Long-Term Care Nurse Manager is accountable for the supervision and direction of all nursing and personal care staff, and for the overall quality, safety, and regulatory compliance of resident care on the Long-term Care Unit (Extended Care Wing) at Atikokan Health and Community Services (AHCS). The Nurse Manager provides clinical leadership and operational oversight for daily nursing care delivery and ensures compliance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 (FLTCA), Ontario Regulation 246/22, and Ministry of Long-Term Care standards while promoting resident-centered care, staff development, and quality improvement.


Requirements

  1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing, in good standing with College of Nurses’ of Ontario (CNO).
  2. Minimum 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience, including at least one (1) year in a long-term care setting and a minimum of two (2) years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  3. Evidence of completion or willingness to obtain administrative, leadership or management certificate, diploma or similar courses.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the Standards of Nursing Practice. 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated competence in managing a highly variable workload.  Able to manage change, adjust priorities and effectively delegate tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing administration, including budgeting and report writing, and collective agreements. 
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution abilities. 
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and scheduling software. 
  • Excellent organizational skills.
