Patient and Family Advisory Council
Your Voice Can Help Shape Care
At Atikokan Health and Community Services, we believe that the best decisions in health care are made when patients, families, and providers work together.
That’s why we’ve established the Patient and Family Advisory Council ( PFAC ) - a group of local volunteers who bring their real-world experiences as patients, caregivers, or family members to the table. Together, they help guide decisions, improve quality, and ensure that care is shaped by those who’ve lived it.
PFAC members work in partnership with staff, leadership, board members, and residents to:
- Promote patient- and family-centered care across our services
- Review feedback and satisfaction data to inform improvements
- Explore ways to improve communication, safety, and outcomes
- Ensure every voice—from emergency care to long-term care - is heard and respected
Growing Our Team
We’re currently welcoming new members who have accessed care at AHCS within the last two years. You don’t need any formal training—just a willingness to share your experience and work collaboratively to help make care better for everyone.
We're looking for people who are:
- Open to listening and sharing respectfully
- Reliable and thoughtful team members
- Interested in helping shape the future of care in our community
The committee meets four times per year, and lunch is provided.
If you're interested or want to learn more, please contact our Executive Assistant at 1-807-597-4215, ext. 305.
Because care is better when it includes the voices of the people it’s built for.
