Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (Registered Nurse Extended Class – NP or RN-EC) is a member of the Atikokan Family Health Team (AFHT) who provides a high level of comprehensive care to meet the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of the individual.
The role of the NP or RN(EC) is to work in collaboration with the community family physicians and the interdisciplinary team to provide care to an entire patient population. The NP follows the patient through all stages of growth and development, through degrees of wellness and illness, from one setting to another, collaborating with other health care providers in various settings. The NP provides holistic assessments and creates linkages with appropriate resources.
Requirements
- Undergraduate Nursing degree, BScN and a valid certification of registration in the Extended Class from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Registered with the Nurse Practitioner Association of Ontario and/or Registered Nurses Association of Ontario and evidence of liability insurance.
- Experience in Health promotion, primary care and chronic disease management and prevention services.
- Effective organizational and written skills
- Ability to work a flexible work week (days, evenings)
- Participate in local and out of town travel, use of own vehicle and valid Ontario drivers license
- Ability to work interchangeably in a multidisciplinary team environment and independently
- Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and be flexible in an active work environment.
- French language is an asset.

The Emergency Department entry is typically locked and visitors must lift the phone handset at the entrance, where a nurse will respond and assist with entry. If the door is already open, please check in at the registration desk before proceeding to visit a patient.

- The long-term care wing also has a water dispenser
