Job Summary
Under the direction of the Long-Term Care Manager, the Personal Support Worker is responsible for direct nursing care of residents of the Extended Care Wing.
Requirements
- Certified as a Personal Support Worker or currently enrolled in a registered nursing or registered practical nursing program.
- A genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the elderly.
- Ability to motivate groups and individuals in recreational activities.
- Knowledge of good bedside nursing care.
- Responsible for discretion in any confidence of patients/residents or staff.
- Familiar with the organization and functions of all departments and with policies, regulations and procedures of the hospital.
- Interpersonal skills, and ability to build and maintain same.
- Mandatory Covid-19 Vaccination

Emergency Department
The Emergency Department entry is typically locked and visitors must lift the phone handset at the entrance, where a nurse will respond and assist with entry. If the door is already open, please check in at the registration desk before proceeding to visit a patient.
While you’re here, we care for you, too. You can access refreshments in multiple locations:
- A coffee maker and water dispenser are located in the acute care patient kitchen
- The long-term care wing also has a water dispenser
A nurse will be happy to help you find what you need.
